BIO
Ash Welwood (b. 1985) is a visual artist from Winnipeg, currently based in Montréal. Her work in painting, mixed media, and digital collage is defined by a vibrant, atmospheric use of color and detailed textural surfaces. Inspired by wild nature, her compositions shift between abstraction and landscape to explore cycles of fantasy and disillusion, death and rebirth, and the resilience of the feminine spirit.

This exploration of inner and outer landscapes is also the foundation of Wondrous Being, her mind-body studio for guided therapeutic movement.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My creative process is a somatic and spiritual ritual, often guided by sound. I work in layered mixed media, building compositions over time that seek balance between dark melancholy and hopeful lightness. For me, the act of creation is a form of resistance: a path to healing and an opening for connection.
